Germany in 8 days

Day 1                             Arrival in Frankfurt, visit of Rüdesheim

After your arrival at Frankfurt airport you meet your tour escort. Depending on the time of arrival it is possible to organize an orientation tour of the city of Frankfurt, the financial capital of Germany. In the afternoon you drive to the small city of Rüdesheim, located on the banks of the river Rhine. With a local guide you will explore the Old City including the Drosselgasse, the heart of the village. The tour ends at a wine cellar. Here a wine tasting ceremony is prepared. Dinner is served as a barbecue at the wine cellar. Enjoy a very special first evening in Germany!

Day 2                             Rüdesheim, Loreley, St Goarshausen, Koblenz, Mainz

After breakfast, first of all you enter a boat for a cruise on the Rhine. You will be excited watching the picturesque landscape, impressive castles and ruines, bold cliffs covered with vineyards and quaint small towns on the Rhine while following this majestic waterway by boat. After arriving at the Loreley you will leave the boat at St. Goarshausen and continue by coach to the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein. It is situated high above the Rhine valley, right opposite of Koblenz. Close to the fortress you will be led to a viewpoint from where you can enjoy a fabulous view over the valleys of the Rhine and the Mosella, the latter joins the Rhine at Koblenz. You cross the Rhine by a modern cable car from which you have a great look-out over the river. From the basis station of the cable car your tour escort takes you for a short walk to the main station of Koblenz. On the way you pass the Elector’s Palace from the 18th century. A train journey through the romantic Rhine valley brings you back south. In Mainz you stop for dinner and today’s overnight stay.

Day 3                             Mainz, Heidelberg, Triberg

Today you continue further south. You bypass the Odenwald, a low mountain range. You reach the city of Heidelberg located on the Neckar. The Heidelberg Mountain Railway takes you up to the Heidelberg Castle. There you will see the castle itself, the Castle Garden, the Castle Church, the Pharmacy Museum and the Big Historical Barrel. Then you will have a walk through the charming city, the oldest uni versity town of Germany, including the famous Stone Bridge over the River Neckar and the Church of the Holy Ghost. After the lunch break a well know region is waiting for you: the Black Forrest. You take the High Black Forrest Panorama Road. Due to the spectacular views to your left and right you will enjoy this ride immensely. A small village in the Black Forrest is the destination of the day. You check in in your hotel in Triberg and savor a dinner with typical food of the region. After dinner a short walk takes you to the illuminated waterfall of Triberg. A very special experience at the end of the day!

Day 4                             Triberg, Schaffhausen, Lake Constance

Enjoy the unique nature of the Black Forrest during the first part of your journey in the morning. You cross the border to Switzerland and after just a minute you arrive in Schaffhausen. You are back to the Rhine again. You visit the famous Rhine Fall, which is the biggest waterfall in Europe. After a short boat tour in the rough water of the fall you walk back to the coach. Back in Germany you continue to Lake Constance. First stop is the peninsula of Reichenau. After your lunch break a local guide joins the group for a tour around the island, which is part of to the UNESCO world heritage. The monastery, several churches, the fields, and the gardens will impress you. Last stop for the day is the island Mainau. It is famous for its gardens and parks. A lot of couples chose Mainau as back-drop and hold their wedding ceremonry in the chapel of the palace. For dinner and overnight stay you continue to Lindau.

Day 5                             Lindau, Neuschwanstein, Andechs, Starnberg

After breakfast you leave Lake Constance and head in the direction of the Alps. The region which you cross is known as the Allgäu and famous for its idyllic atmosphere, intact nature, and mountain pastures with cows and sheep. You will stop for a photoshoot at castle Neuschwanstein before you turn back north. At noon you arrive in a village called Andechs. This small place is known all over Germany for its monastery and its brewery. After lunch (not included) you will take part in a guided visit of the brewery. You explore the mystery of the German purity law. Of course, a beer tasting is part of today’s program. A half hour’s drive takes you to another lake. It is very popular with the people of Munich, who come here for day excursions or to spend their weekends. The lake is named after the city at the northern end: Lake Starnberg. A 2-hour cruise takes you around the lake and shows you the “King’s Castles”. In the hotel in Starnberg dinner is waiting for you.

Day 6                             Starnberg, Berchtesgaden

From the lakeland near Munich your journey leads past Munich, through the foothills of the Alps to Berchtesgaden. Near this city you find the only German national park in the Alps. You explore the region with a drive along the Rossfeld Panorama Road. On your way you pass Obersalzberg, the place where Adolf Hitler’s country house was located. Dinner and overnight stay today are in Berchtesgaden.

Day 7                             Berchtesgaden, Zugspitze, Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Today the trip follows the outline of the Alps. You pass lake Chiemsee, lake Tegernsee, and lake Staffelsee. Finally you arrive in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. The lunch break is followed by a tour with the rack rail from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the Zugspitzplatt (2,588 Meter). If you want, you can take a cable car to the summit from here. After coming down to the village again, you will enjoy your farewell-dinner at a local restaurant. Your overnight stay is in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Day 8                 Travel Day

Today it is time to say “Goodbye Germany”. After check out transfer to Munich airport and flight back home. If time permits, you can make a stop at the famous Passion Play-village Oberammergau and explore the picturesque place during a short city walk.
